I’m originally from North Devon and moved to London for my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science. My major research interests lie in cell and molecular biology. I am particularly intrigued by fundamental cellular processes, interactions, signalling and how these are impacted during or contribute to disease. My interest in mechanical cell biology led me to undertake a placement year studying the ESCRT-associated protein BROX, which co-ordinates nuclear envelope remodelling in concordance with mechanosensing. Studying the impact of cytoskeletal forces on the nuclear envelope left me eager to learn more about the regulation of the actin-myosin cytoskeletal network, and has led me to undertake my PhD in the Basant lab where my project will be investigating how the pseudophosphatase STYX regulates the actin cytoskeleton. In my spare time I enjoy playing water polo, board games and trying out new food at restaurants around London!
